It's totally devasting here in Melbourne - and people are in shock as nearly everyone is affected by knowing someone directly involved.
The fires are still continuing to burn through out the state - some still out of control very close to the city and into the fringes. It's not over yet.
Driving into work today the sun was blood red trying to shine through the smoke - and even now at midday the sunlight is orange.
Another day of numbness. Everyone is volunteering to help in some way.
Thanks for your thoughts to all from so far away - as I know it means a lot to everyone both affected and all those amazing volunteers working hours and hours on end.

Our thoughts in NZ are with you all too. Last weekend the skies over NZ were orange as the sun shone through the smoke floating at high levels. Considering that we are 1200 miles away it gives a good indication of the intensity of the fires. Many NZ's have relatives and friends in Victoria, including me, and we are shocked at the devastation and loss of life. I see that contingents of NZ firefighters have been deployed in Victoria. It's good to know that we can help, even if only in a small way. Anyway, we're thinking of you. All the best.
