Cheers, I might have one tomorrow from celebrating joining the 75/ZT community :)
I just put a deposit down on a 2.0 V6 and found this great site while I was researching the good/bad points to look for on the car. It's certainly powered for 'leisure' but what comfort :)
I might post some photos in the future when I've picked it up. It's a tidy 2001 example with an entire history file & frsh, and a velour 3 piece suite included to sit on while driving ;) I think I paid slightly over book price at £3100 but I think it's a very fair price for a just-run-in hulk of British steel (40000 miles, almost to the mile).
I've got a 28 day warranty so I'll be looking at the forums to see which components to pay close attention to before that time expires.
Anyhoo - Hello :)

Welcome and I see you too have joined the infectious "V6" gang. Hehe. :)
Glad to hear you found the club helpful and informative. It doesn't stop here though, ask us anything (seriously - anything about any subject) and you're bound to get an answer within hours, even minutes. Yes, this club is that good ;) :D

Hi,
Sounds nice with a FSH :)
One of the first things i would check when you get the car is the drainage channels, cos if theses get blocked your ECU could get wet and cost loads to get fixed, Have a read here on how to check them out http://www.the75andztclub.co.uk/download.php?file=tid002.pdf and http://www.the75andztclub.co.uk/download.php?file=tid001.pdf apart from that just keep a eye on the water and make sure in don't loose any.
Get some pictures up we all like a excuse to look at the cars :)

For a good idea of what it looks like see Mike McCabe's car on the overview page, then put your finger over the fog-lights & pretend it has slightly grimier wheels - bingo ;)
I'll have a look at that link right away. When I looked at the (opaque) coolant tank I did think it was unusual have orange fluid, but I'd already seen the advice page regarding how to check the coolant level in black header tanks & that the additive was orange.

Cheers John :) To be perfectly honest I was a bit stumped over which car to buy next & my workmate had bought a 2.5V6 ZT, which by the way looks fantastic (it's a very dark blue, or something, and fully loaded). He went to France & back and seeing as he lives in a city he decided to buy a 2.0CDTI ZT to complement his V6. I've always liked the shape of the 75/ZT I think it will never age because it started off with the retro/modern style. Anyhoo I was at a loss whether to get something small & frugal or balls-out big, before the oil price goes crazy. I decided that now is the last reasonable time to buy something a bit thirstier than necessary, then I saw this V6 on autotrader/exchange&mart/ebay and thought I would call about it. I read up on them & had a look, the rest is about to become history :)
Anyways - a porthole into bad-head-day's noggin unfolds :)

The moon and it's mystical magickal powers (and yes, magick is the correct spelling for it. Magic is the word used for the namby-pampby poncy stuff like card tricks and slight-of-hand). We're talking real magick with spells and rituals and smelly liquids and this is sounding more and more like I'm the one under the influence of a spell. But more of the liquidy bottle form from supermarket isles that you can purchase between the hours of 10.00am until 10.00pm....
I think i'll just :getmecoat:

I live in Rugeley now mate, but I grew up in Armitage (and from 0-1 & a bit I was in Burntwood). For anyone who isn't "local" that means we're about 7 miles apart. The distance you live apart in Staffordshire is the inverse of how far apart your eyes are http://www.rob-clarkson.com/duff-brewery/cletus/02.jpg

I did notice that there was a bit of fluid on the power steering reservoir, like the cap hadn't been fixed correctly at some point. I'll monitor that closely after wiping it down.
