National Club Meet for the 25th Anniversary of the Rover 75 Gaydon 14th April 2024
Announcing the Owners Club National Meet to celebrate the Silver Jubilee of the Rover 75 on Sunday 14th April 2024 The Club's 1st National Meet of the year will be held on Sunday 14th April 2024 at The British Motor Museum Banbury Road Gaydon Warwickshire CV35 0BJ Between 10am and 5pm To mark the 25th anniversary of the launch of the Rover 75, the club's next national event will be a combined weekend celebration following on from the Pride Of Longbridge Rally the day before at Cofton Park where we will have a club parking area for members. Gaydon Motor Museum holds a particular significance for the 75 and ZT Owners Club for two very important reasons; firstly in terms of club organised events, it is where it all started for us back in 2006 with our inaugural meet which was attended by 100 cars, then our next visit back in 2010 topped that attracting 117 in total, followed by our third visit ten years ago to mark the then 15th anniversary of the Launch of the 75 where we topped our record with 139 cars. Secondly, as many of you will know, the museum at Gaydon houses the very first full production Rover 75 to roll off the line: VIN 100001 a Dealer Launch specification model no less, so what better way to celebrate than to hold our event at it's current home. Looking at the build record for # 10001, what makes this even more special is the fact that it came off the production line at 10:28:29 on 12th April 1999, so our event is 25 years almost to the day! https://www.the75andztclub.co.uk/for...6f6294967d.jpg As part of the club's National, we are looking to re-unite as many member owned Dealer Launch Cars, and Pre-Launch early Rover 75's as we can in one place to be arranged in a display. The museum has agreed to bring out from long term storage one of their two Rover 75s and display it for us inside our own area of the building. Quite apart from our club area, the museum contains hundreds of pristine examples of automotive history including a Thunderbirds Pink Rolls Royce and of course the very last production Rover 75 to roll off the line, hand assembled by a small team. https://www.the75andztclub.co.uk/ima...gaydon1410.JPG Once again, we will be presenting the annual Gryphon Award to the best car at the show as voted by you the members on the day 25 Years Ago To mark this special anniversary, the club has invited several original Rover Group key personnel to talk about the development and production of the R40. We will have a function room set aside in the main building where you can meet and question the key people responsible for getting our cars into production. Confirmed are the following: https://www.the75andztclub.co.uk/for...bcc0956e63.jpg https://www.the75andztclub.co.uk/for...6a8ca132a4.jpg https://www.the75andztclub.co.uk/for...01df730e47.jpg https://www.the75andztclub.co.uk/for...9141527ea4.jpg https://www.the75andztclub.co.uk/for...6a8ca2de6b.jpg We hope with your support, to make this the club's biggest and best National weekend ever marking the 25th anniversary of the car's launch in style and with pride. The cost for car club members to enter the museum on the Sunday National is £12.00 per person which is payable on the day directly to the museum's pay desk (All of that fee goes straight to the museum, and not the club). However, as we have to cover the entry fee costs for our special guest speakers and the not insignificant charge to have the museums Rover 75 brought out, we are asking for a token charge of £4.00 per car to attend the meet , payable to the club at our registration Gazebo on arrival. That makes the combined cost for attending the National meet including museum entry with access to the Rover special guest speakers and The museums 75 a total of £16.00 split across the two payments. Accommodation Suggestion https://www.the75andztclub.co.uk/for...70eefb1c20.jpg The Travelodge Bromsgrove Marlbrook is 30 mins from Gaydon. It has rooms from £50.99 currently and a Miller & Carter Steakhouse next door for a nice meal on Saturday night. I remember that cold , windy January day in 2006 very well . there seemed to be a lot of cars but none in Lagoon and my Tourer caused some interest sadly I've sold the Rover due to ill heath after more than 18yrs . I don't think I could persuade my wife to drive me there in here Fiat 500 convertible !
John . |
Please put us down for both PoL and the National Club Meet. I'd like to get both 75s there, but it might just be my BRG example.
Thank you! |
In all likelyhood me for both days Paul.
I've just added the event to the RSR & JRC Events Listing. Thanks Nick |
Ohhhh here, I will have to attend that. Count me in. Now which car to bring!

I had already planned to attend POL, so put me down for that, please.
I'm not sure I'll be able to get a pass-out for the whole weekend, so Gaydon is only a possible. |
Hi guys,
It is my intention to come over to the UK for POL as well as your meeting on April 14 in Gaydon. Cheers, Pim |

|
Count me in for the National at Gaydon please.
Can't do PoL. Although Pompey are playing Bolton, I'm not like Lagetha and using that as an excuse - it's my grand-daughter's birthday party. Miss that at my peril! Thanks Mike |

Replica umbrellas will be available on the day!

Hopefully this is posted in the best place,
As we will be attending both POL and the national at gaydon, we would like to offer those attending the national at gaydon on the 14th the opportunity to purchase one or more of our replica umbrellas. We have been selling these for a little while and have had many good reviews. We make replica Rover items, mainly items that are difficult or impossible to find these days. We do this as a hobby around family and work commitments. As we will be accepting cash on the day they will be £30 (usually £40) due to postage and packaging costs). If you are interested in one or more, please send me a message with your request of umbrella colour and text to be on the umbrella. Below are the designs and finished items. Options available: Umbrella colours Burgundy Navy blue Green Text (in white) Rover 75 Rover 45 Rover 25 Rover Other text options may be available upon request. Diameter of canvas is 96cm with wooden J handle and black jewel push button for auto opening. The closing date for submitting orders will be the 16th of March to allow us plenty of time to prepare them for the day. More images can be found on our Facebook page - a class of its own - Thanks Rob |

I feel like it's the time we put a bit of pressure on Gaydon to place back the first 75 on display, and in the main museum arena. I find it irritating that it was replaced by a Cortina and a Reliant Robin/Regal in the cars through the ages stand. Combined with the sacrilege of storing the last Rover up upstairs above the Jaguar heritage collection.

Both days
I'll be coming to both hopefully if it's alright to add me to the lists. Thanks :}

Possible problem Bev is having problems and may not be able to drive the 75 and given i will have a arm in a sling and unable to drive as just after a operation .. we may need to bring our MG ZS AUTOMACTIC which bev will be able to drive so only way we can come may be in our ZS but i hope time yet for bev to recover to be able .. i guess like BOB if the 75 was automatic things would be different.
i don't think a option .. so i hope Bev will be OK to drive but its currently a worry , we are due to be taking the F to Austin garages today but Bev is now saying not able to drive the F and i'll have to .. :duh: its pre Operation so it should be possible :getmecoat: only driven a manual once in the last 3 months . wish me luck |
Please can I be added to the list for the Gaydon meet (25th Anniversary)
Many thanks Maurice |

Regarding Pride of Longbridge, we are awaiting the details of the area we will be allocated. Gemma organises the whole thing, which is no mean feat, and as a result it does take a bit of a while to calculate everyone's areas and get round telling them where they will be. At present we know we will be required to enter via Gate 2, Lickey Hill Rd, and as soon as I get more info I will relay it to you all here.

Gate 2 Licky Hill Road. |
Apparently her phone has been compromised
https://www.the75andztclub.co.uk/for...c97b472122.jpg I'm guessing this is the reason behind any confusion. |
Pete has sent a PM :}

Unfortunately it looks like PoL has now been cancelled due to Cofton being absolutely waterlogged from all the rain 😢. Thank goodness we have the Sunday to look forward to.

Not for the first time, it's about time they moved it to later in the year, I know it's held on the date for a reason, but it's a pain with the weather. |
Well I'm glad we still have the Sunday event happening at Gaydon, but given how far I come from and with ferry and hotels already booked, I now need to find something else to do on Saturday...
|
Hi guys,
Thomas and I planned to come over from the Netherlands but just for only the Sunday that is a bit too much. So we cancelled our trip; such a shame. Pim |

If you prefer to be closer to Gaydon for Sunday, I highly recommend a tour of the Cotswolds if you haven't done it already. Chipping Campden, Broadway, Bourton on the Hill, Stow on the Wold and Moreton in Marsh are all delightful provided it isn't raining! :D Simon |
Disappointed but these things happen. I have booked a air b&b for Sat night ..so as I'm coming from the North east may do a detour on Saturday and call in to the Crich tram museum on way down as haven't been there yet. Or maybe the great British car journey at Ambergate. .the Coventry motor museum is well worth calling in as it's just up the road from Gaydon and that would fill Saturday in. I was there last year. The other place in the area .if you can get booked in is the Morgan factory tour ..idid both of these last year. The morgan factory is well worth it..hope this helps if anyone has booked hotels to fill in Saturday. Looking forward to Gaydon on Sunday. Is anyone else going from the North East. Maybe meet up early sat morning and go down together
|
Hello Paul and everyone,
Very disappointing about Pride of Longbridge's cancellation - but given the state of the water table everywhere, not a surprise. I drove past Worcestershire County Cricket ground on Saturday and it was a lake! I couldn't have made both days so my decision has been much easier of course - please add me to the list for Gaydon. It will be my first time back there since my first-ever national meet in 2010 - so, very much looking forward to seeing everyone - it will be the exact 24th anniversary of Zircon's registration! All the best, Nicholas/Zircon |
For those looking for something to do on the Saturday, the Rover 120 and MG 100 anniversary clubs have organised an event with the Great British Car Journey.
