Clicking noise in engine bay

Any one has an idea of a clicking noise on the passenger side that comes from the engine bay . Sounds like a sticking tappet but is not . This is on a 75 diesel club .
Thanks hpold .

Is it noticeable when engine is running or when off ? Sounds like t could be a relay clicking , have a look in the fuse box under the bonnet.

Only when engine is running .Thanks will check it. Did read about this problem a while ago but can not track it down ,think some one wrote about it being near or on the back of the battery .

Clicking in engine bay

Methinks it may be the rubber in the dual mass flywheel breaking-down. I had mine replaced on the diesel at about 105k miles and it was the noise on tickover which was first noticeable. I was strongly advised by Jules to use only the OEM brand Corteco and he can supply a replacement promptly.

Try unplugging the EGR solanoid.
Mine clicked away awhile ago.

I'm not sure, but I think Bigal might be referring to the crankshaft pulley rather than the flywheel. These make various noises on tickover, which often disappear when the revs are increased a little, or when water is sprayed onto the pulley. If it is the pulley, you might also notice the idler pulley bouncing a little when looking from the front of the car. Corteco is indeed the manufacturer of choice for these items. I bought mine from Island 4X4 at a very competitive price. Something else to consider might be the serpentine belt tensioner.

Clicking noise

I had the PAS pulley bolts loosen and fall out.

It gave a very pronounced clicking noise for a while before actually falling out. It's easy to check them.

Maybe a failing fuel pump. The UBP is prone to failure, especially in diesels of a certain age.
