Superchargers

Ok, so what super chargers are available for the 260 V8? And costs?

Try Brian at Dreadnaught, they are the only approved ones...

You can do it yourself, but there are some pitfalls

Kenne Bell done at Brian (preferred)

Kenne Bell self install (map will be a problem)

Roush, rare and again mappimg issues

Must be some US imports that will work in the MG?

There was a recent thread on here about how/why 260s cost what they do (I expect every user has seen it).

I asked about supercharger costs and another member stated in the region of £8k, putting the 0-60 time into the 5's, apparently top speed is limited to 155.

Only a matter of time before you ask this!

I did a fair bit of investigating and the issue is the ECU remapping as if it isn't done right you will end up with detonation and no more engine...

Dreadnought have a remap with their supercharger conversion (Kenne Bell) that is proven on the V8.

There is a lot of info on 260s, but the long and short of it from my research was:

£8k for Dreadnought to do it with their proven map
£5k to do it yourself or semi DIY route and generic remap (That may not work properly under certain conditions leading to loss of power and engine!)

I concluded I didn't want to do the second option as I didn't want to worry about the engine going bang and that I didn't want to do option 1 as I couldn't justify spending that much on it...

If you go for option 2 you could take the risk that the engine might suffer at some point and then get a rebuilt engine with stronger internals * (which probably wont help if you get detonation), but then your total spend would be over £8k anyway...

My V8 remains uncharged :(

Nick at Austins Garages fitted one for a member and made a bostin job of it, I would love to super charge mine but as my daily driver i cannot justify the cost to my self. I use mine for work and can as I did Thursday use a full tank of gogo juice in a day. Some folks thing im  but i just love driving it with that v8 burble. :drool4::drool4:

:smilie_re:As long as i can aford it i will continue to do so but without it being supercharged :getmecoat:

good luck with your search :D
