Diesel 75 saloon coming in for breaking Tuesday.

As far as I'm aware everything mechanically works as it should on the car apart from the gearbox which is shot and the in tank fuel pump. Engine is apparently sweet and everything runs as it should.

Nearly new pair of rear springs, £30 delivered.

Four diesel injectors, £60 delivered. NOW SOLD

Bosch under bonnet fuel pump, £25 delivered. NOW SOLD

Inlet manifold, £30 delivered.

Full Deepsea Green personal line interior. Electric, heated, memory seats. Haven't removed this yet, but had a fair look over it, the drivers seat is excellent, none of the usual baldness/threadbare patches on the bolster or splitting on the piping. Double piped. ALL functions work. This is a FULL interior, not just the seats but the steering wheel, gear knob and sleeve, handbrake handle and sleeve, dashboard, door cards, FULL CARPET!!!, heater closure panels, carpet sill trims, b-pillar lower trims, c-pillar lower trims, quite a few other bits that I am no doubt forgetting as it's getting quite late! Due to the relative rarity of this colour etc I am asking £175 ono for this, obviously it will need to be collected but I am more than happy to meet the buyer somewhere mutually convenient if it's not too far away, or fit in with any pony express arrangements etc. I could possibly even deliver anywhere in the country for the right money! Update, the offside lower c-pillar trim, which fits partially behind the rear seat, has cracked but once it's fitted and the seat is in the upright position, rather than folded down, it'll barely be noticeable at all. NOW REDUCED TO £125, NEED THIS GONE URGENTLY

Rear parking sensors, full kit with bumper loom, sensors and holders, ECU, £35 delivered.

Auto dimming rear view mirror, cowling with rain sensing module, full loom and wiper stalk, £25 delivered. NOW SOLD

Electric rear sunblind, can be left in sandstone parcel shelf, or removed for retro-fit, £25 delivered.

Centre cap hub puller, £8 delivered.

Pair of front fog lights and surrounds, £15 delivered.

Heated windscreen washer jets, with loom as far as the connector in the wing, £15 delivered.

Lovely car was part ex'd about three years ago as the gear box was going!
Out of interest, how many miles are there on the clock?

Xenons, under seat belt height pins, ipk if Message, switch sets and LSM front if spotlight, hole plate if 3 or 4 switch, Intercooler top hose sensor lead if fitted, fuel cooler thermo valve

Just approaching 169k on the clock, I must say the engine is still sweet as a nut, drove it 65 miles home this evening and even the gearbox was pretty decent apart from a couple of rough changes and seemed to be 'slipping' once warm in 4th and while trying to lock the torque converter. Pretty good considering the box was going three years and probably 60k ago!

I dont get this,the car needs mainly a gearbox and it gets scrapped!!!

Gearbox, fuel pump failing, structural bits and bobs failing, cruise no longer working, no doubt plenty of other things getting tired and on their way out as well as age and mileage related wear and tear.

Yes it could be saved but when there are other cars that are in much better condition for such cheap money it doesn't make financial sense for most people to invest in such a car, hence cars like this ending up in the hands of 'enthusiast breakers' who strip them and sell almost exclusively to other enthusiasts for below market (eBay etc ;)) value rather than see them crushed.

If sacrificing a car like this one means the remaining cars stay on the road for longer, in a better condition, with better spec, giving more pleasure and enjoyment to enthusiasts then I think it's completely justifiable to break a car such as this.

I think I speak for most, if not all, traders on this particular forum when I say that none of us will retire solely on the proceeds of what we are doing here and a lot of the time and effort that goes into our work is not simply for financial gain. Granted, we all have to make a living, but nobody is going to set the world alight by breaking 75's although if we can have a nibble as well as doing something we enjoy, why not?
