Is this the worst bottom arm ever?
|

Oh god... im worried about getting my suspension all renewed now haha!!
|
Mine is getting a bit rusty, no where near as bad as this. Wirebrushed it up and waxoiled it. For future how which is a subframe for a saloon?
|
My god, never seen a car so young with rust like that!!
All the 75s Ive owned / worked on over here in Australia still have their proof coat on under the cars, albeit a bit dusty and dirty. You get rust,we get stone chips and faded paint- pick your poison!! |
Bit of fibreglass and it will be ok.:getmecoat:
|
I can make up my mind what's worse, but these must be a contender for the prize.

I changed this one when the wheel started to scrape the inner wheel well soon after I got the car.

Crikey that is bad - after the horror stories on here I had a really good look at mine last summer and jet washed them one week then wire brushed and rustproofed the next. But before bothering with all that I took a small hammer and checked everywhere I could for solid metal
Happy to say I found nothing but the nice "ring" of sold metal. I will be checking it all again this summer and applying another coat of wax ready for next winter. I have heard that cars from the colder north of the country suffer more because of the road salt?? Not sure if that is true but when I jet washed mine out I was amazed at the sandy soil that came out. |
Strangely the opposite side was in good condition!
|
Bit of bondo and send it on its way.................Only kidding that is a bit far gone
|
A decent spray of stone chip will sort that out!;)
|
A full subframe fitted now along with new shocks, can't have Deb running about with it like that!

Upper arm!

Technically yes, but as it's on the bottom of the spring, it's a bottom arm. |

No nige, it's from debs new car, her blue one has had new arms too lol |
The ones on my 05 plate tourer were about the same absolutely rotten. The ones on my launch car are almost perfect just goes to show there can be a great difference in the time they can corrode.
