New Owner - Service Advice

Hi,

Just about to become a proud owner of a 2001 75 1.8, to go with the 1975 MGB GT.

Buying the car off the father of a good friend of mine who is 85, and built both MGBs and 75's in his working life.

Car is low mileage, been garaged most of its life and appears to be immaculate

It's been on sorn for the last four years as he no longer drives.

Getting the MOT tomorrow, and although there are a few good garages around the Taunton area, wonder of if it is worth taking it to Bodytech in Salisbury who have a T4 for an initial check over and service.

Comments / suggestions will be appreciated

If it is not toi far to travel, I can highly reccomend Mark at MJN Motors in Bristol. Website link http://www.mjnmotors.com/
It is where I used to take my 75 to before I got my ZTT. My ZTT will be going to Mark at MJN for any servicing and work required. I have just booked my ZTT in for a service for February 8th.

Mark is extremely knowledgeable, very helpful and does a fantastic job. I think there sre other members who use Mark for their cars as well.

I know it's common sense, but I'd have it fully serviced before use.
The cambelt is due at 5 years or 60K, so unless it was done just before being taken off the road, it'll be due again.

To add to the above post, I would take it to tsautos in Stourbridge for a service and full check-up including T4 session. It's so easy to get to from Taunton up the M5.

Do a search on Terry, tsauto and the reasons for ths recommendation will be obvious.

Just to even things out a bit, you have Exeter Road Garage, and AE Wilcox in Wickwar.

Both have T4, and are fully conversant with the 75.

Terry ar TS Autos, well there is a fair chance that he worked with the chap who you bought the car from ;)

Anyway, regardless of how nice you find the car, it is never going to have an exhaust note like your MGB, however it will do more than 25MPG and is 118 HP, as opposed to 95BHP for the twin carb B Series.

Welcome along

Brian :D
