dead starter

Help required yet again please.
Went to start one of my ZTs yesterday that hadn't been started for a month. Central locking didn't work on fob so opened on the key. Can't remember if tried to start or not but charged overnight on fast charge with leads disconnected from battery terminals as I always do for safety.

Opened car today on key and popped bonnet, connected battery and the alarm sounded. I cancelled it by pressing fob. Turned on ignition and everything lit up but not a sausage from the starter, not even a click.

Have I immobilised the starter by doing something stupid, wrong or out of sequence? This has never happened to me before on any of my ZTs when connecting a battery.

With grateful thanks,

Adrian.

Adrian

I would suggest that you clean the starter motor contact terminal

Many thanks to you both. Feeling rough today after removal of a lower molar. Makes a change to be on the receiving end of dental treatment!! Will try to fix car tomorrow if feeling better although roads heavily gritted tonight so weather may prevent tinkering outside.

Will let you know as soon as successful.

With very best wishes,

Adrian.
