Laptop Deals ?

I am looking for a new laptop with a budget of about £700, not sure whether to buy now or wait for the sales, anyone know where there are any great deals on at the minute ?

I dont play games on the pc but like music, photos etc. and need to network it with my main pc which is upstairs whilst the laptop is down, the connection doesnt have to be wireless as i have an ethernet cable running between the 2locations

Would quite like something that looks good and with a screen larger than the usual 15 inch if poss.

I don't know the situation in the UK, Rob, but ...

... never buy a computer or parts of it in advance, as prices will fall and specs will go up for sure.

Just buy it when you need it.

And, also important, don't look at the price tags again after you've bought. Never ever! You only would be annoyed. ;)

Wait for Sales and "VAT Reductions" :D.
New Intel Processor out now so prices of older models will soon fall.

Someone told me that pcworld have already dropped to 15% vat, I don't know if its true though I've not been in to see.

phone dell, tell them what you want spec wise, when they tell you the price say i'll pay £700 and thats final and watch them fall at your knee's, kissing your ****. If they say no then put the phone down their lose.

thanks guys plenty of food for thought there

I don't know about the UK, Rob, but here in Ireland I would try Dell first - I have bought 2 lappys from their outlet store.

Lidl/Aldi give a 3 year warranty and have high spec machines whenever they sell them. Some people reckon that you shouldn't buy toilet paper and computers in the same shop, though .

Do you need to spend £700!! For what you say you are going to be using it for you could get a decent spec machine for half that price. Just make sure you upgrade the RAM to at least 2gb as a minimum. Both Lenovo and HP do machines for £400 which will work very well for doing the tasks you want.
