Two very good sources :
1. there is an excellent photo guide here , thanks to Jim McGlynn ;

2. And , there is a how-to on this forum in the "how-to" section.

Good luck :}

If your car is running low on coolant, that could explain your high temperature .

Hiya James,
i suggest you get the two manifold gaskets as well before you start.
When i did this job i found them u/s, so it wont delay ya!
good luck.

i changed mine last week and was not a bad job, and you only need to remove the front manifold.
if you use the search facility at the top of the page and put in thermostat, the past threads on this subject should come up.

Depending on how old your engine is ..................

Pre 2002 ish there was less gaps in the front manifold, so I tend to remove that type.

Later types can be done just by removing upper manifold, and then working through the gaps
Someone's done it just by removing the throttle body and struggling around through the "side Gap"

I get back ache doing that and it's only 20 mins removing upper one!

Later type below
