Strange noise that I'm trying to identify.

Hi , hope your all keeping well.
I don't know if any of you wise people can help with my car..
Since Christmas ,and only when started from cold, i get a rattling noise from behind the drivers side wheel. After a couple of minutes it subsides and all is well. I started to think it was the Crank pulley and was advised here to buy the corteco brand pulley..As it happens, it turns out I haven't done so yet as I'm still not 100% certain it's the pulley that's at fault. I've decided to wait until the noise either changes or gets worse. Today I've now noticed that the noise characteristics have changed somewhat. It still sounds rattly on a cold start up and disseappers after a few minutes ,but if i now put my steering on full lock and hold the steering wheel against its full lock the noise is quite loud. As soon as i release the pressure off the steering wheel the noise goes away. ( i was doing this stationary)
I'm starting to think now that it's not the crank pulley that's at fault but more like a belt tensioner.
Money is little tight at the moment, so i was a little reluctant to just go out and buy a new pulley hoping this would be the end to all my problems but I've now got it booked to my local garage to check it over.
Anyway thanks for reading and replies given, and please accept my apologies for not contributing to much here of late.
Life's been a little hectic of late.
All the best
Johnny

It may be the power steering pump. Try removing the auxiliary belt to see it it goes quiet

Thanks Steve for your suggestions on what it could be.

Could still be the crank pulley - when you hold the steering wheel on full lock you are loading up the power steering pump which is driven by the crank pulley.

If you take the serpentine belt off you can check for any play and roughness in all the pulleys.

Its either crank pulley or A/C tensioner.

99.0% either of these and nothing else.

The water pump can also do a good impersonation of crank pulley failure. ;) :D

That's the exact sound mine is making. Its booked in a week on Saturday to get it all sorted out and then happy motoring once again ( hopefully). I've been putting it off since Christmas because it's been so intermittent, but i think its now becoming a certainty something going to break soon if i don't get it sorted.
Thanks for adding the YouTube link Mike:-)
