I've noticed this petition calling for a second referendum in the UK is gaining
I've noticed that this petition is gaining strength very fast calling for a second referendum large numbers of people have signed up to it, that it crashed the government website it's nearly got 1 million signatures already,
I have attached the link just so people can see how many people have signed it it's quite surprising https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/131215 |
Well........they reallly should apply the rules consistently. Industrial action cannot be called by a union if the turnout to vote for it is less than 60% ish of the membership.
I also read somewhere that the way our voting system works, proportional representation etc, there was actually only 37% of the population voted out. So it's a minority of the electorate that are taking us out of Europe. |
A second one ..
Just because they didnt like the result .... Sounds familiar .....:D:D |
If there were a very quick second referendum which led to the UK asking the EU if we could stay, just think of the conditions they would then lay on us.
|
Good Grief! the people who died fighting world wars for democracy must be turning in their graves.
|
If they wanted to stay in Europe then they should have got off of their backsides and voted when the rest of us democratically did.

Do you know I go a walk every morning and today I saw a couple of local neighbours that are fairly young, they were on the remain side but did they vote............. no not on your nelly. I wish people would accept that if they don't vote........... then keep their opinions to themselves. |
I can't see this call for a second referendum happening, I imagine it's mainly students who didn't vote in the first place, but are happy to spend their life on Facebook or Twitter

With the country split almost 50 /50 it's hardly 'surprising' any petition will be popular amongst those who lost.
What has happened to the gracious British public who, once upon a time were prepared to risk their lives for our country. There is no second chance. Just as in any election the result stands, even though the elected government often have little over 30% of the vote. Time to accept the result and fight for your future. |
Surely Gov. must consider the petition and discuss at Westminster if those are the rules and promises - but I assume they can do so freely, and having done so respond with e.g. "the people have voted and we promised to abide by their democratic decision, we said all along one chance to vote only, they did, it's done and there will be no second referendum".
