it a pain no its a doddle .1st grab hold of the front of the base and and lift it up both sides that will release from the clips now the the fun bit.you can by looking to the back of the seat see a thick part off the frame located under a lug this has to be released.i used a cut down broom handle borrowed from a local witch.use this to lever the frame down and push back at the same time.this will i hope release it.as for the broom i am taking it back as my other half has been turned into a frog on the other hand......:D

I found its a right pain to get it back in, you would think the "brackets" are spring loaded and you just push them back and they pop up, but on mine I had to hold them down by pulling down the "rip cord" push it back, let go of the rip cord and then bang it a few times to get it to reseat.

It was designed by the devil.....

There is a spring hook fastened to the underside of each side of the seat base. The hook catches on a hooked bracked fixed on the car. You need something about 18" long with a forked end. Lift one side and using your forked implement, unhook the spring. Repeat at the other side, then it should just lift out. Refitting involves using the same implement to try to get the hook back on the bracket.

I too have benefited from this thread - today I managed to get the rear seat base out mainly for cleaning but also to check the seat belt mounts and rotate a clip which had turned itself round. Apart from enough crisps to fill two packs I found a 50p piece which pays somewhat for my labour.
Someone mentioned doing all this to access the 'sender unit'. What .is this? in case I need to get at it in future

Hi Doru.
If you are refering to each corner quite easy give it a good push to the rear and a slap down with the flat of your hand or forearm at the same time also you can reach under the corner and open the spring clips a little by pulling towards you and it should slip over the fixing point in pic two below Arctic.

I could never get one side of my rear seat clip to stay in the holder. When I removed my old seats to fit the leather ones I found the reason, the fuel pump cover was only held on with one bolt

As said seat removal can be a bit tricky but once you have done it,it's a doddle.
