First major fault

My poorly 75. Driving near my home over a speed bump and suddenly heard a noise like the Devil in Georgia playing the violin under my bonnet. Pulled over and popped the bonnet only to find the N/S shock has punched out of its rubber mount and hit the underside of the bonnet, only a small dent but requires a sad face emoji :cry:. Strut bearing okay and spring still sitting perfect, drove home slowley with a thick rag between bonnet and shock.

So geuss my week off with the kids will involve them helping Dad fit new top mounts, If ones gone the other is probably on its way. Deep joy.

Will try and do some pics of whats happened and fixing it if can work out how to down load some :}

Do you know if these are the originals or have been replaced at some time? Would be interesting to know the manufacturer of the failed part if its after market.

Good luck with the repairs.

Not sure if they have ever been changed, will have a look at any part numbers, when I get them stripped down and let you know.

Not aware of many failing this way - but certainly one to watch out for!
