How does it know this?

I travelled up to Aberdeen in my ZTT with its Navall3 on Friday and on route it told me there was a quicker route to avoid congestion, I accepted its advice and carried on. An hour later it gave me another option but I declined as I was on the M6 and didn't really want to go off route, oh boy did I regret that, 2 hours sat in traffic.

Today on my return trip the overhead warning signs said there were delays on the M6 and the Navall 3 gave me an option to avoid so I accepted, as I left the motorway the signs were warning of a 30 min delay, 10 mins later I rejoined the motorway just after the accident.

As it says in the title how does the Navall3 know there is traffic problems? My phone was not connected to it so it must get it from airwaves somehow.

A great feature.

It has TMC?? I didn't knew that this feature has build in, in the Navall3

No TMC on the Navall3 .
If it wasn't your phone acting as a personal hotspot then maybe it just picked up a free wifi signal.
Or maybe you have historical traffic switched on in the Primo menus and it just offered an alternative route which just happened to coincide with an actual jam:}

GPS signal from Satellite :shrug: it does not need to be connected to a hotspot and it`s just doing what it is supposed to do.
Ken.

In the settings for Primo there is a system for working out alternative routes if the mapping system receives data on congestion .
This is done via the Internet and the unit being able to receive said data via WiFi/3G.
However in that setting there is also a thing called historical data which has a database of known traffic congestion hotspots stored on the Primo software.
If this is set to 'ON' it will also attempt to give you an alternative route regardless of whether there is any actual traffic hold up;)

Don't these use the the RDS system, the hidden FM data system for traffic updates?

Hi Harry,

The earlier WinCe units had TMS equipped Rds boards but not on the Android units as they get the info from the Internet hence in the photo I just posted showing how traffic info is received :}
