ANOTHER White Gold tourer.....

Yes I love white gold tourers. This is my 3 in a year lol.

Example that needs a bit of work but currently has mot and I'm definitely keeping this one.

230k miles on it, Connie se, sunroof tourer, everything on it bar sat nav which suits me.

Plans? Mot it which is a list in itself, previous owner was good mate and he only had it a year, but owner before that had neglected it massively.

After than see what it brings. But I've wanted a diesel manual for a long time as a backup and project car. Seeing as bar mot and services my other two are good and as far as I can take.

aturi83 11th March 2017 15:57

Jewish Racing Gold. The best colour :D Enjoy mate.

Realrover 11th March 2017 18:07

Superb rare color that suits the tourer well, a limousine in Moonstone Green
would suit superbly!!
Nice collection you own. And my deep respect for all you efforts you undertake to keep those characterful machines on the road

Robson Rover Repair 12th March 2017 00:10

I would have a few more if I could.

Limo is 100% on list for 2018, ideally v6 auto and Mk1, but either would do.

Rooney 12th March 2017 00:51

Masses of potential there Colin.

Car looks familiar to me.

You'll have it concours standard in no time I'm sure :)

David Lawrence 12th March 2017 09:36

Looks a very promising car and one that will reward you well after a thorough clean up. Sometimes neglected cars can make the best projects because they have also not suffered from bodges. Really like the cream leather interior, kept hoping one would come up when i was looking for my second car but they never do when you want them to.

Robson Rover Repair 13th March 2017 03:45

Will be new head lining and sound proofing the roof as my first main job after mot.

Then it's whole interior strip, sound deadening whole car, refit to my standard and then door cards off, do them also and refit with new clips.

Aim is to take the luxury of it to next stage.

Long term I would like this to be my car I develop ideas on and then move onto my main cars.

kbonney88 13th March 2017 09:36

White Gold defo suits the tourer.. I got my 2003 Gold tourer back in 2012.. and will never part with it.. love it to bits..

anyway - enjoy Colin..

Ravinder 14th March 2017 15:54

So whilst parts arrive I've started cleaning her up on outside. First off, replacement rims and tyres. As she's a 02 Connie se I want the car to reflect its age and spec, so I've dug out my old set of comets on winter tyres, cleaned them up, waxed and ready for fitting.

Helps if I added pics

Great work. Is it a difficult job getting the seats and carpet out?

The end result of two days of intensive detaring and cleaning of the exterior and engine bay. Note there are no dressing on anything or Polish, I'm trying to judge the car as I go.

Plan to swap the rims over the weekend. I've brand new front discs and pads sitting here, and pretty sure brand new rear discs and pads in the shed also.

As I've cleaned it I've discovered significantly damage to the under sides of front and rear bumpers and exposed the damaged sills more.

So when they are changed I'm almost certain I will "cowley" the car by diy painting the sills black to keep the costs down. I will likely however gloss black them as I really liked the look on my tourer when it was a Mk1.

Shall MOT first and then paint them so repairs can be inspected.

Things are coming along. Insured and taxed today. So have began cleaning the car properly. I'm unsure how I'm going to bring up the carpet but work in progress.

And I had to fit a full wood dash also.

Robson Rover Repair 7th April 2017 18:36

Minor but satisfying job today.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/08...pstwbedou3.jpg

I know it's on the wrong side but someone had scraped off the union flag and damaged the paint work. So a slight touch up, removal of 75 badge, fit a cdti badge in black and then a mk2 tourer boot plinth is as wild as I'm going with this car lol.

Robson Rover Repair 11th April 2017 02:15

Well finally I had a chance to do possible the most awkward that should be simple job on our cars.......

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/08...sklrknfzn.jpeg

.......joy of joys.

Well I got the car bled up, and horror, what came out of the system, not contaminated fluid like I expected but actual black ENGINE OIL. Used engine oil by the looks of it, either it was the original fluid from factory (which i cant see as the cars at 230k miles) or someone has actually bled it up with engine fluid during a clutch change.

Pedal is now miles better obviously, id say if before was an 8 outta 10 for stiffness (orrr errr matron) now its around a 4 out of 10, my v6 slave is very light so id place it about a 2.5 outta 10 on the same scale with a brand new setup being a 1 out of 10 so im more than happy and even the wife was able to put car in gears without any hassle.

So I finally got to get a drive in her, and my word, what a comfy bus! :D

Its much more comfortable than my club se 75 auto, but im not sure if I can live with the wallow quite so much. One day I may resolve it, and move the suspension from it onto my other 75 and do something akin to a ztt setup, but thats long off.

For now!

Robson Rover Repair 1st July 2017 05:14

Sadly due to a change in circumstances I will be letting this car go now.

No such thing as a stable job, never mind a job for life in NI it would seem.

Robson Rover Repair 17th July 2017 04:53

No sold onto a new owner who I know is going to make it perfect again.
