Monitoring Trailer lights

I have the link cable YMZ000150 for monitoring the trailer lights but is there another way to monitor the trailer lights that does not involve using the BMW relay 61.35-8 369 019
I don't have original towing electrics fitted but have after market.

I cant seem to find one for the price I want to pay and I really can't see many people wanting to by one so am puzzled as to way they are so expansive.

thanks

How much do you want to pay?

As little as possible :)
If the indicators stop working I wont hear the repeater so I'll know.

If I were to get one from a scarp yard I'd not expect to pay more then £15 and that would be expensive.

Some scrap yard prices, upper arms £7, rear sub frame £60, Tourer rear light lenses £30 each, power fold electric mirrors £30 each.
I forgot about looking for the blessed relay!

The story does not just end at getting a relay, I'd need a plug to go into it and a wiring diagram on what pin does what and if memory serves me right, its not a 5 minute job to add the link cable YMZ000150.

I bought one of these units from ebay. It is fitted in the boot and I can (just) hear the beep. Cheap & easy to fit. As a retired electronics engineer I've often thought of running something to the front as well, but as yet haven't bothered!

I have one of those too. With my saloon I too find it hard to hear the sounder but the Tourer it is easy to hear.
It is odd sometimes driving the Tourer without the trailer connected not to hear the sounder as the trailer is so often connected.
