Rear lights problem

Problem with rear lights. When the sidelights turned on there is a buzzing from somewhere around the the fuel cap area and lights start a disco display! One will come on and then go out, then another will do the same. This applies to the side lights mainly. Nothing worse than electrical faults. Please help:duh:

check the earths on the left and right side of the boot. follow the black wires from the tail light plugs and they'll lead you to where they've been earthed. I had a bad earth once and was causing all sorts of electrical issues with the tail lights, they were lighting up like a disco and had a mind of their own.

75 lights

Thanx Rick, yours sounds like the same problem. I changed a few bulbs yesterday but no difference. The buzzing noise is coming from somewhere behind the diesel fill point, and the tone changes with the movement of the dip switch. It made me think that there was a relay on its way out. The lights do not flicker, they come on for 3 seconds, and then out for 4 or 5 seconds. Also when coming on and going off its like something is turning a dimmer switch. Thanks again Rick, electric faults are the worse thin out.:}

have you or anyone else changed any bulbs prior to this happening? as i once had a job come in albeit on a different car, and someone had either pushed a 1 pin bulb into a twin pin or vice versa (i forget which) and that can cause the problems you describe

Certainly sounds like bad earth fault. Do what Rick says.
