as requested , not sure they suit the car 100% but I had bought them for a zt and they fit and are new with new tyres so they can stay for a while , till I like them or find better :) lol

but it makes the car different :)

car about to tick over to 20k

had an issue with the alarm sounder it was disconnected from when I got the car (common issue with water getting in) so replaced with a bmw/75/zt one , and faced the other way so weather cant get in ( it lives under the rear light and faces forwards into any water no facing the rear of the car and the metal it bots to acts as a weather shield apparently the seal on the 6's isn't that good so I doubt will have another issue as the bmw version seems more weather proof , bit of a daft place to put it too mind lol

added a tuning box to the car and now it flies is the only way of putting it, would leave a 190 easily ...... if you turn the traction control off or it sits there arguing with it and flashing the light lol

quoted at about 200hp and 264nm torque brings the car alive , makes it growl , next will be an exhaust system and itg filter

only grips with the car are the use of the rubber surfaces mainly as the car was used as a disabled mobility car before I got it so there are marks dug in to the pass door card but what looks like a set of crutches which I cant clear or colour out but cant complain that much I suppose :)

with the messing about with the alarm box I managed to over tighten a bolt on the rear light and snapped it

so I replaced both rear lights ... total cost just over £200 for both which I though was pretty reasonable as they are huge and led for the "red" lights and arrived after 2 days so parts seem easy to get hold of ( I use https://www.ukmgparts.com/catalogue/mg6-mg6-gt-magnette) Paul Anderson in parts seems very good and is my 1st stop now unlike some local dealers that don't seem to care

again this isn't the cars fault was me being heavy handed in the cold

had 4 wheel tracking to the car and this really improved how the car felt on the road

all in all very happy with the car drives lovely no rattles and NO DOOR PINS which is bliss lol

you can feel the zt dna in the car and it makes me smile still :)

Well the wheels really transform the car. A lot of car for the money. Might have to get a 6 at some point, if only they done them in Yellow.

Cracking write up as well. Please keep us informed of any other 'mods'.

Chilljohn 28th February 2017 22:27

mileage milestone

car running great changed coils for good old fashioned mew genuine mg-rover items as they are a bit beefier and used magnocor ht leads this has made a difference but like I said above at has a tuning box on so would not have needed to if not

http://i566.photobucket.com/albums/s...lljohn2/11.jpg

and is this yellow enough for you sir ;)

not sure if they do in the uk and abroad seems to get more choice which is a shame

http://i566.photobucket.com/albums/s...john2/2222.jpg

I would have a yellow one tomorrow

Chilljohn 28th February 2017 22:28

If you need any help with MG let me know.

Rumply 12th March 2017 10:28

What was the tuning box you fitted, was it easy to do.

We've a TSE that's coming up to five years old now, other than the alarm being sorted under warranty, we've not had a single problem with it.

Ta ;)

Chilljohn 12th March 2017 18:01

mines from https://tdi-tuning.com/

its the one ending 4 for mine

I changed my alarm sounder for a zt one ...... much louder lol and more water resistant apparently !

Chilljohn 10th April 2017 13:29

just found out that the 6 has power folds as standard lol

press and hold the buttons for left and right mirror and they fold in or out , leave them folded in and start to drive they unfold at about 25 mph

that will teach me to use read the manual lol

Chilljohn 11th April 2017 21:27

and you can have any image as the system startup too :)

in full colour

Phill_190 11th April 2017 22:00

Im really tempted to update my mg zt to an mg 6!

Chilljohn 11th April 2017 22:03

i would I have genuinely not missed my zt as much as I thought and that not because they are bad or this is better its because they feel quite alike if that makes sense

and with the throttle map update the idle is smoother , and the tuning box makes the car how it should have been

also just ordered 30mm lowering springs for the car :) so looking forward to that :)

if you ever pass come for a drive of mine

Phill_190 11th April 2017 22:35

Thanks mate! Am really intrigued to see how they feel to drive! I love my zt but it just feels a bit tired now, would love it to go to someone that can look after her as for a daily driver i think its becoming a high cost unfortunately!

Simondi 12th April 2017 05:49

I followed a 6 down the M8 yesterday, lovely looking car:}

e668ecp 12th April 2017 15:50

75 based floorplan isn't it?

Slaya 14th April 2017 13:53

ChillJohn - how is the gear change in your 6? Mine is a little notchy and 'light' - not as nice and solid feeling as my ZT. The cheap 'n' nasty gear knob on mine doesn't help, looks like yours has the improved gear knob fitted.

I was looking at one of the those tuning boxes, but had no feedback from anyone that had fitted one - my car is crying out for more power!

Chilljohn 14th April 2017 14:18

he gear knob should have been changed under warranty for one like mine with the chrome ring on it and apparently make a big difference , my gear change is ok not notchy not amazing but not bad if that makes sense

the part number for the new part is 30050122-asa
I changed mine as my gaiter had a blue mark on it I still have in a box as was going to sell on ebay for £40

the gear knob changes by putting the square surround up (it unclips) then peeling the gaitor up and over the knob this reveals a metal securing clamp , bend the metal so it releases and the knob gaiter and plastic trim lift off

the new parts replaces all and is about £90

the tuning box makes a word of difference to the power

the bad points are

certain settings can make the idle lumpy , the cruise will work but if you are cruising at say about 2k it surges the power delivery as I guess the car is getting more power than the cruise was expecting

the box can make the car argue with stability and traction (makes sense really) and the power delivery is far better with these disabled

I run mine on setting 7 and it drives like a different car, and is much faster, (leaves my 190 standing) but I suggest you make sure yours has the throttle map update applied from the dealer , this alters the power delivery of the 6 as standard and helps with the idle

Slaya 14th April 2017 14:27

Cheers - I generally drive with the traction off anyway as it seems to improve the drive (others have said it also removes the 120mph speed restriction - not tested myself).

If I end up keeping the 6, I think I will try the tuning box, my car has had the throttle map as far as I know.

The difficult bit will be explaining to the missus why there are still 2 MGs parked outside :D

Chilljohn 14th April 2017 14:31

if you ever pass this way let me know il put box onto your car so you can see :)

Slaya 14th April 2017 14:37

Cheers John, might just do that :D

Slaya 14th April 2017 14:50

One more question - does the tuning box affect the fuel economy much?

Thomas 26th April 2017 12:48

The alarm sounder is about the only problem I have had with mine, its been a good car and is also good on fuel for a petrol.

When you first get it yes but then you turn it down and drive normally so if it does not that i noticed .... After the playing

Chilljohn 5th April 2019 19:22

been a while since an update , car now on 35k

only faults it has had are a cruise fault , which needed the earth on the strut cleaning as the point was too thick and the maf sensor went out of spec which cause a rough idle and the car would start then die straight away along with high fuel consumption all sorted for less than £100 for a genuine bosch maf

changes are no including

tinted rear windows, and TSE spec alloys

https://oi566.photobucket.com/albums...2/IMAG0906.jpg

new steering wheel with out the plastic strip on bottom as the paint wore, new one has metal inserts , the buttons match the colour , just not with a flash lol

Chilljohn 5th April 2019 19:27

how do you change the photobucket size ?!?!?!
