More Tough Times Ahead!

They say things come in three's and mine certainly has.

Having survived an allergic reaction to an anti-inflammatory drug and gone through major surgery.

Now it seems after spending 3.5hrs at Torbay Hospital on Wednesday to find out if I have Prostate Cancer and the likelihood is that I do although I have no symptoms.
But because of a high PSA result it's looking like it, I am now waiting for my appointment for an MRI scan.
If the results are positive which I don't want then it's onto radiotherapy which will mean being not able to drive again.

Things are just not fair but that's life as they say.:shrug:

Yes, so do I.

The funny thing about this is that I went to where the scanner is to see if I would fit in.
I am a large guy even though I have lost 14 kilos, it's a tight fit but at least my head doesn't have to go into it.
They told me it would take 35 minutes and I must remain still.:eek:
But at least I get earplugs with headphones that plays music.

A friend of mine who has been through the MRI scan described the noise as a bag of spanners going around in a washing machine.:}

Wishing you all the best for your scan and the future Neil.

I've had a couple - the noise isn't too bad (i.e. not deafening) and it varies somewhat. Usually does sound a bit industrial though! The lying still part isn't too difficult either, and a frame might be placed around/over you to help with that. The technicians almost certainly won't tell you any results, you'll have to see your doctor or consultant for that. A word of advice - don't wait for them to contact you, ask at the test when you can expect the results to be through and follow it up on that day yourself.

Best of luck.

A friend of mine who is local to you has just undergone the full coarse of treatment in Exeter for prostate cancer and has been able to drive back and forwards to the hospital so you might be OK to do so,good luck with the treatment.

I hope my post gives you some positive thoughts. 3 years ago, my younger brother was diagnosed with Ca Prostate, grade 6.3 with 9.0 being palliative. He underwent surgery in Bristol using the Da Vinci Robot (NHS) and because not all of the cancer could be removed, he then had 35 radiations of 15 minute treatments. His treatment plan was tailored to fit around his shift work. He is in the police. 3 months after the treatment was finished, a scan showed the cancer had been completely irradiated and was no longer there. His PSA had returned to normal. He still undergoes scans and checks. So far, so good. He still drives but now works part time as he loves his work, but doesn't want the stress of it. We are very close, I love him to bits.

I sincerely hope, everything goes well for you.
