She is a 1969 Westerly Centaur and was the 41st of over 2500 of the Centaur. Britains best selling yacht. Very roomy for a vessel of 26feet with up to 6 berths although we very rarely have more than two overnighting. My dad and myself share the purchase and running costs 50/50 which makes it affordable ( just)

We have sailed her (and motored at least 75% of it) down to the Forth Estuary up past the bridges as far up as Blackness Castle and up to the Moray Firth as far as Lossiemouth. Been caught out in some fairly horrendous weather a couple of times and she handles it well. Most of our sailing is in our home waters of the Firth of Tay as far up as Perth ( River Tay) and out to sea round the Bell Rock Lighthouse.

Due to advancing years we have decided to put her up for sale this year and buy a similarly sized motorboat/cabin cruiser. Something that can handle going coastal and accomodating us comfortably...with heating as our yacht has..and an internal or very sheltered helming position. Have to sell ours first of course and we are in no rush.

Two foot itis
 

It's called two foot itis mate. All boaties want something two foot bigger than what they have....:duh:

Condition stays with you for life....no cure!:D

Don't know about two foot itis though......the Broom or Haines we are thinking of next will be a 32' to 40' effort......got to have room to grow:eek::D

We had hoped to be out on our friends yacht next week but it's out of the water getting its bi annual hull treatment.

I agree it's a very expensive hobby but it's a lot better when your in a warm climate with moderate wind, saves a lot on fuel.

17 degrees
 

Spent a couple of fabulous hours on the water today. 17degrees ashore and although a cooler easterly breeze it was still warm out on the water. Blue sky and not a cloud in sight...fabulous..:drool4:

Life diesn't get much better. Anchored off a little ( very little) island called Lucky Scalp in only 5 feet of water and had a tasty cup of soup, snack and a blether with my dad. All in the sunshine. :cool:

If only we had weather like this all summer.....:shrug:
