Print server /USB / IP + LPT1
I know this can be done, but I have forgotten the IP setting string for doing it when configuring a printer...
I have a print server (router with USB ports for USB printers). My USB connected printer shows as being LPT1 on the print servers config page. The print servers IP is 10.131.97.175. Using Win10, I can add a printer via TCP/IP, but from memory I need to enter the IP as 10.131.97.175 ????, Where the ???? represents the fact that it is a LPT on that IP. Anyone know please? Maybe something like 10.131.97.175 -LPT1 or 10.131.97.175/LPT1 or 10.131.97.175-LPT1 |
When I've set up network printers with win 10 in the past, i've just created a new port on the PC as 10.0.0.2 (or what-ever the ip address is) and then connected the printer driver to that, and bob's your mothers brother.

Not that I do that much printing, or need that many printers - its just that I was given them, so I might as well be able to use them. |
Solved it now...
Set the printer IP as the print servers IP - 10.131.97.175, set LPR and set the queue to L1. The USB printer is plugged into port 1 on the print server. |
