Poor boys black hole polish/glaze
I've just used this for the second time today and I've got to say I can't really tell any difference. 1st time I applied it by hand so thought maybe I'd done it wrong, this time however I used a DA polisher and I still can't see any improvement on the paintwork:shrug:
It must be me I think as everybody I've spoken to about it says it's excellent for dark cars. Maybe I need to be a bit more aggressive with the polisher:devil: http://i1374.photobucket.com/albums/...psjvpqu55k.jpg Meguiars NXT wax being applied http://i1374.photobucket.com/albums/...pshm2gfrwo.jpg And after http://i1374.photobucket.com/albums/...psxlakxpj7.jpg SWMBO says she can't tell the difference from when I just wash the car instead of all the polishing and waxing business:duh: |
I'm a firm believer that it's the polishing stage that makes the paint shine. Waxes and sealants will then protect and seal in the shine. If your paintwork is in good condition (I suspect your is), then I wouldn't expect to see much visual improvement with the addition of a wax\sealant. On the plus side though, your paintwork is now protected from the elements.
You'll notice a bigger improvement (in terms of looks) from a wax\sealant on poor paintwork, as the product will go a little way towards filling in all the swirls and adding a clear seal over all the bonded contaminants. Good, protected paintwork like yours will always look far better though. :} Junkman2000 (an experienced and well respected detailer) puts it a little more bluntly when he says: "... if a sealant or wax makes your paint look noticeably better, then your polishing needs work." Thanks for that Cliff, our paintwork isn't too bad, it has quite a few swirl marks that I haven't gotten around to machining off yet and a lot of car park dings but she does shine up nicely after a good wash:D

As said above, to get the shine is all in the polishing. The glaze will just protect it for a short while and give it an enhanced finish. Blake hole is widely regarded to be a dime product, I haven't used this myself, however but a lot of the detailers rave about it.
