Be aware.
I don't claim to be a guru in these matters, but thought some (newbies in particular) may not be aware that the following eBay listing is incomplete.
“TOSHIBA MG Rover TestBook T4 Dealer Car Diagnostic Service System Laptop”. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/361840059607?ul_noapp=true The seller acquired the laptop and discs “after a garage liquidation”. They state that NO CABLES are included – “correct cables will need to be sourced before this can be used”, But there is no Omitec control box (the brains of the operation) - may not be aware that this unit is essential. Omitec was acquired by Continental, and I was politely informed that they no longer support our T4 units. It won't be easy to find one. Best option is probably Phil-T4’s virtual T4 units. |

I had to chuckle at this
Laptop is fully complete, acquired after a garage liquidation. Software fully installed on laptop. Battery included but no charger included. so not only is it an incomplete T4 system, it is an incomplete laptop!! The charger for my father's Toshiba Satellite laptop about 10 years ago, developed a fault, and because of its connection, it meant the 'universal' chargers would not fit. The only way at the time anyway, was to order a dedicated charger at £80! What you really have is an expensive, second hand, dated, slow laptop, that will likely run out of its battery power within minutes (his would only run for 1 hour before needing charged) that doesnt actually have a T4 system (copied discs and no cables) lol |

LINK :getmecoat: For anyone who was wondering the original T4 laptop was a Dell C600, which migrated later on to a Dell D505, then a Dell D610/20. Of course any laptop could be utilised, but the original laptops were all Dell manufactured machines. It is a moot point, as without the necessary interface and cables, these are a rather expensive doorstop, nothing more. Brian :D |
