John,

The circuit diagram shows fuse 23 (5 amps) in the passenger compartment fusebox, energised only when the ignition is on. On automatic transmission cars there's a relay involved too.

Simon.

Hi - Thanks to you all - the problem was the switch (which is possible to remove (just) with a ring spanner once the wheel is removed).
Yes the circuit is on number 23 fuse rated 5 Amps, 5 from the top and 3 in from the door (on the other set-up it is fuse 41 and is rated at 10 Amps)...
Anyway the switch has been cleaned and now working but I've ordered a new one to fit in the future.
What can I say a GREAT CAR & A GREAT FORUM - truley a car driven by gentlemen (gentlefolk!) of the road.
Thanks
JARL

ARTIC - If you can scan and post the document for me & others - I am sure there will be other times when I need to check fuses and your information will be invaluable.
Thanks
JARL

Jarl,

I have that document. Send a PM with your email address and I will scan and send. I found this document a bit elusive as the fuse box type is not shown in Haynes or the handbook as already stated and my car has this later layout.

Does this help?

This link is just what I need....MANY THANKS
A copy will be put into my owners & Haynes manuals for future reference.

Could this link be displayed somewhere prominent (i.e. easy to find)

Thanks to all of the offers to scan and send - obviously not needed now but appreciated that you took the time.
JARL

Well done Bill. Can you advise if this diagram is actually in later owners handbooks (the book that came with the car). I have the later three board fuse box but my book shows the earlier single board version. Perhaps mine was at the point of facelift and I still got the old book OR they never upgraded the book???

Here is a copy from my handbook. This does show the facelift fusebox.

Thanks Bill,
Strange I don't have the later book to go with the car. Well at least I've lived with the car long enough to know it's a good'un even if the book's out of date.

Just checked the book and the original entries for PDI and vehicle info were all by the original supply dealer so the book is definitely the one that came with the car. Like I said, must have been at the point of facelift - car was first registerd 7/April/2004.
