Thermostat hose

Any recommendations for type of hose to use for thermostat hot water hose. I have seen different options to use : standard heater hose, silicon hose, and reinforced wire types and EPDM types advertised. Would they all compress up ok via jubilee clips , and not be cut into , when clamped . Anyone used these other options, as the water would be boiling near enough coming out the stat. Is the silicon suitable? The hoses are not available any more on rimmers,at least the one that i need .

This is going to become a big issue for all of us soon. Similar in some ways as will the looms problems . Many are seeing hose issues now ,and not unexpected really , some of these cars are now 25yrs old .

Dont see anything from DMGRS for our KV6 engines . Diesels yes. I wonder if our chinese friends did them for the roewe 750 ?

Thanks for the link... ;)

Been doing some digging and the silicon hoses are indeed a better option. They can handle temps up to 350 degrees so well within spec. Used a lot in motor racing ... ;)

Hi Stefan,

You're forgetting that the system is sealed so that the boiling point is raised above 100˚C. Remember also that the thermostat is not in the flow circuit to the radiator.

The use of Jubilee clips is more likely to cut into hoses than the OE spring clips which exert a fixed, pre-determined force upon the hose.

Yes; the standard factory fitment. All of mine are original, nearly 25 years old and in "as new" condition. There is no need to change them for the sake of it.

Hi steve . Looking at the pictures , would you know what size is the connection to the expansion tank underneath ? Im looking to renew the whole hose section complete and need to know the inner bore size of that connection to the expansion tank. You cannot tell from the photos or diagrams what size is used as i need to use a T piece to that hose.Would you know this size from an old tank lying around .. I dont know if dave has disguarded his old replaced hose , if not he may know. ... ;)
