Rang Peter again this afternoon; he's got 1 week left of his 4 week rehab.
Some movement now with his left leg, but not strong enough to start walking.

I'm afraid that I may have detected that he is now getting dispirited, quite understandable really.

His wife is at home, and apparently not coping well at all; she is 90, so a little older than Peter.

They have 3 children, not the two previously mentioned; a son in Scotland and another in Hong Kong; a daughter lives fairly locally to them.

There is a possibility that his 4 weeks will go to 6, and social services are starting to evaluate what adaptations their house will need.

I suspect that this evaluation is why he may stay longer in hospital, I have heard the same scenario many times, whilst in rehab myself.

I hope I'm wrong, but I do wonder if his speech is starting to get affected; I had difficulty at times understanding everything.

I emphasised that many people do improve after a stroke, and that his leg movement is a good sign.

He spoke more than listened, which I don't recall from last week.

Mike
