Hello Mark,

I read similar reports to yours before renewing my bushes. I chose to remove the lower arm and found that when the horizontal line marked on its end is aligned parallel with the base of the bush housing (as specified in RAVE 60-14) there is no problem. The housing will sit flat on the subframe, the bolts can be inserted easily and no pliers are necessary. David might find this helpful.

This may only apply to original factory arms if aftermarket parts don't have the alignment line present, in which case your method can be used.
