I did the same, and even the haynes manual says you can do it, but another mechanic scared the beejesus out of me with horror stories about static electricty and that you shoul be harnessed (earthed) at all time,


My advice, just keep all bits of your body away from the front of the airbag when removing

And apparantly, you cant bung old airbags in the wheelie bin
