And now a properly helpful post:

Are there any decent tablets for sub-£250?

Sort of.

Playbook is good, but VERY limited. But what it does do, it does well and it's very, VERY cheap.

PERSONALLY, the cheapo Android tablets (the Chinese ones, Archos ones etc) are rubbish. Too slow, poor screens, not got a proper version of Android, no market etc.

I would say if you want an Android tablet, get one with the nVidia Tegra at least - my personal recomendation would be the Xoom or the Asus Transformer if you want 10", or if you want something smaller then the Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9" is alright... but all of these will slightly push your budget.

You can get an HTC Flyer for ~£200 and it'll run the new version of Android but it's just a bit too slow imo
