Not really - I've been using Collinite on my wheels for over 10 years now with no issues. It works every bit as well on wheels as it does on bodywork - it's just paint when all is said and done. Next time you go for a long run in your '75, check how hot the wheels actually get, I suspect you'll be pleasantly surprised.

As long as your wheels are cleaned regularly to avoid any real build up of brake dust, I really don't see why they should need any special treatment over and above what you do to the bodywork. A good coating with a decent wax or sealant will allow brake dust & road film to be washed away with normal car shampoo. Of course, if you're really fussy, you can remove them at regular intervals to clean and wax the back of the wheel, but watch out for the funny looks from the neighbours.
