They obviously feel the lower arm ball joint(s) may have gone thus causing the bush to perish.

Until I had new clutch I had no clue that the ball joint on the driver's side lower arm had gone.

I can therefore understand what the garage is saying. They are presenting you with a worst case scenario and their prices seems reasonable TBH.

Cost me around £400 to have both my lower arms and bushes replaced by Andy Willi from this forum and his labour rates are very competetive.
