Default Alternator Charge Fault

Hi Folks

Battery warning light came on late last week. Ordered up a new regulator and a second hand Alternator. Replaced the regulator Saturday afternoon and it seemed to work. Voltage was over 14 with engine running . Got lazy and went out to the chip shop Saturday evening,on the way back warning light reappeared. Now it,s not charging the battery again I'm trying to avoid replacing the alternator. When idleing light comes on, i rev it and it goes out but still not charging.Any ideas
