That's odd because a low temperature gauge reading more or less has to be a faulty thermostat.

It's possible that they don't know the correct MGR procedure to follow when refilling and bleeding the cooling system. You might have an air lock around the temperature sender giving the inaccurate reading. Here's how to bleed your engine when refilling.

Start by checking that the radiator fan is running continuously when the air conditioning is switched on.
