CRT Monitors were and still are the best, the problem though with CRT monitors are:
Convergence issues.
Size and weight.
If you can find one.

I use a Sony 32 inch TV in the shed which is a 110v US set, It is an LCD but has first class angular light levels and definition, far superior to any Sony set sold in the UK as it must have been a top model.
There is a lot of junk out there but I have seen some really nice monitors too, I'd agree with mss believe it or not that Dell do buy in good monitor chassis and screens.
