I've been living in C.Portugal since May 2009 and never cease to be appalled by the standard of driving/parking out here... Drive too close and abandon their vehicles where they stop, no real parking techniques at all. The main reason that I reckon is the cost of corrective spectacles - they can't or wont pay the terribly high cost glasses and the way they drive I think that most are nearly blind. The only thing that they do observe is the continuous white lines in the middle of the roads, just never cross them!
