Sorry I cant help with the dimmer problem. The dimmer on my Alpine CDE-102Ri unit works fine on all settings.
However, this is the lead I bought to get the steering wheel controls working. You just need to make sure you select the Alpine Patch lead. Very Easy to fit and works perfectly....
