His priority is to stay drunk to avoid alcohol withdrawal and getting seizures. He drinks wine plus plus instead of eating a meal and he says he is passing blood for several weeks. I tried to discuss with him going for rehab, detox and drying-out and asking the Salvation Army to get involved, as detoxing on his own at home is nearly impossible. So many detox centres have been closed down.

I worked in a detox centre in Kings Cross in London where it had a 21 day programme for getting people off alcohol and drugs. It was run by a charity and it was fairly successful. There is nothing like that where he lives.

His biggest fear remains, what will happen to his cat when he is dead.
