I have researched most of the reviews Paul for the A7 series and keeping going back to the A6500 for the reasons you have given. After driving a GoPro the size of a match box, in comparison I am sure I won't find the A6500 too fiddly. In fact it's size, weight and specs are all very appealing. One supplier even offered an extra 3 years warranty on top of the manufacturers 12 months. Jessica has noticed that mirrorless cameras seem to show up the wrinkles in people's faces more, something she is not too happy about. Of course there are ways around that
