When should you fit winter tyres?
As the legal obligation to fit winter tyres in Germany is dependent on the weather, it can be difficult for drivers to know exactly when to change their tyres.
German lawyer Tatiana Orfanakou of WILDE BEUGER SOLMECKE offers some guidance: “As the weather conditions can change rapidly, I would advise to avoid problems of being caught out by fitting winter tyres from the 1st November until Easter.

Yes exactly... I agree. However the point I was making (badly) is that there is an element certainly of German drivers, with very expensive cars, who live in the cities, and do not fit winters at all, as they stay within the city bounds where the roads are nearly always clear.
So what I was trying to get across, was that if city dwellers in DE with expensive porsches and BMWs still dont fit winters, then the idea that people in London are adamant that they require them is incredible!
