It's the right thing to do in my opinion. Your name suggests you have an SD1. A C reg SD1 2000 ( with 2 litre from Princess, O series) was my second car. Had 2 new gearboxes in it. Swapped that for a 2.6 X reg auto. Then I'd bought 2 classic cars plus having a MK3 Cortina. My dad, whose drive they were on, made me get rid of a couple of them. Sorry to say the SD1 and MK1 Humber Sceptre went and I kept the Cortina and MK2 Consul. I now have 4 Rovers, 75, 45, 25, P4 110 1963.
