Cheers Paul. That was back in the days of experimenting with black and white film.
It was an intense time, as the previous year I had been on the Fateh field off Dubai where there had been a similar incident. The well had reached just over 4,000 feet when a "kick" occurred. When gas bubbled up under the platform the kick control was terminated and the rig abandoned. The gas ignited, and the rig and platform disappeared under the sea.
I'll see if I can resurrect a couple of the slides, but they are in poor condition.
