Sorry to harp on but as I asked for help (despite not being a 75 but a fellow TF) I had to reply back with some findings. You won't believe it.

Flow through rad only happens with revs (I put a STD k stat in as the original was gutted and no sign of a prt). It would appear after studying pipework etc the prt wasn't to be found as someone seems to have replaced it with a metal Y piece.

Gobsmacked is not the word!! One ordered, new stat will be gutted and let's see. So so many bodges, lord knows how many people have been told "it's a rover, they all do that."
