Haven't visited for ages...touch wood my car's behaved impecably,breezing thru the last 3mot's though I'm now having to spend money as things wear out..tyres,exhaust,steering pump etc.
All I can say is Geesh! why the hell?...well done for finding this.I met someone who came across a similar senario.He was told the stat had been removed because of overheating problems so he replaced it.He didn't realise that it had the prt and that had been gutted.So he'd repaced the blanked off one for nothing.Symptoms of gutted prt exactly as you say,engine quickly overheats though the rad stays cold...the water simply doesn't know which way to go.
