Well done, Mac, on a very detailed How-to. You have considerably more patience than I, but you share my reluctance to splash the cash, when a repair is possible.

Unfortunately when the mirror on my old Accord was vandalised, all the casing was broken, so I couldn't do that type of repair.

On that car, I could remove the actual mirror and bracket from the door without removing the doorcard, but would have had to remove the doorcard just to disconnect the wiring connector, which was well down the door. So I pulled as much wiring through as I could, then chopped it off, cut the connector off the new mirror, and hard-wired the two together, then tucked it back behind the doorcard.

It reduced the time, and cursing, required for the job.
