Talking Update

For those that may not know (including me), the airbag light can illuminate under fault condition in two different ways during starting:
1) the light can come on for a few seconds, occult (go out) for a second, then come back on. This indicates that the airbag DCU is working but has detected a fault condition.
2) the light comes on and stays on (without occulting). This indicates that the instrument pack cannot communicate with the airbag DCU. This, in all probability, is because the DCU itself has failed, and needs replacing, and possibly programming, using a T4.

A local member put his T4 on the Tourer. The T4 failed to communicate with the airbag DCU. The airbag light failed to occult as described above.
The airbag DCU was replaced with a secondhand unit, it was reprogrammed from being a saloon version, to a tourer version (which I believe does not have rear seatbelt pretensioners), and miraculously, the airbag light went out.

Many many thanks to CB750CHRIS for his invaluable assistance, and expertise. He is a credit to this club.
