Bit of an update, I finally managed to get the cover off then the regulator and brush set

The brushes seem fine and free, the slip rings also so now I'm a bit stuck as the where to go next

I was under the impression that it there is nothing coming from the alternator it's likely to be the brushes and if the voltage is all over the place, especially high it's the regulator.
