I got the VED reminder today for my 1.8T

6 Months £211-75
12 Months £385

Pricey when 50% of the roads up and down the country resemble a Lunar surface

I was toying with the idea of getting a 216 Cabrio. The tax on that would £345, whereas a 214 would be £210.

That's a heck of a difference Dave,I can't imagine the emissions are so different.

I've just taxed the coupe as well. £189-50..... For 6 months, I usually SORN it over winter..

It wouldn't be so bad if more of this money found it's way into maintaining the roads,I've never seen them in a worse state of repair.Potholes cost me 2 tyres on my 45 over the winter,I'm just thankful they didn't buckle the wheels as they are scarce for a MK 2 45.I find myself constantly scanning the road surface, there are some real horrors out there that go unrepaired, even on the main roads.

Because they are pre-'99 it's done on engine capacity, rather than emissions. Up to 1549cc and over 1549cc.

Certainly not £110 higher anyway.
Why wouldn't you believe it? It's based on Co2 emissions and petrol has always produced more of that.

I suppose I was basing it on what I see coming out of their respective exhaust pipes.
