DAB interference ZT 190
I have fitted a single din Pioneer head unit in my MG ZT 190 saloon. I have noticed that when the cigar lighter is in use (camera, usb charger) the signal is interfered with, or even lost.
Does anyone have any ideas what is causing this, and also a fix for this problem? Thanks Minimosher666 |

Sorry, can't provide an solution, but I had exactly the same on my Lexus IS 300h from new. It went back more than once to sort it without success (I had my dash cam powered from there, so it was in use permanently), the main dealer had no idea that the ciggy lighter socket being in use was causing the problem.
It was a member on the Lexus equivalent of this forum who suggested unplugging the dashcam, DAB restored.

it will be the interference from the dash cam electronics.
Had the same happen to me, now removed and fitted a dedicated one that connects to the headunit. The dashcam is now in the van and it interferes with the FM radio in the van, but I dont use the radio so alls good. |

I have had issues with Led lights blocking the DAB signal on my Navall3. Seems that cheap LED lights emit interference. Fitting a Ferrite Core over the feed to the light helped (it was a Navall 3 fitted on a boat) suggesting that some interference was on the power feed, but I guess this solution is not too practical on the car wiring.

Thanks for the replies guys. Would the interference go if I fitted a permanent power supply to the dash cam from my fuse box? Thanks again Pete.

Hi.
Yes indeed some "hash" can radiate to Band 3 and will cause glitches. One of the issues of course is those window aerials that will pick all this hash from anything connected to the fag lighter socket. Ideally you need a roof mounted proper Dab Band 3 aerial. This improves the signal to noise ratio and also due to the screening of the roof will cure the issue.
